Training with Kat
Kat offers training following French Classical principles for any age or breed of horse, whether youngsters, hackers, high school or remedial. Kat will help you create a harmonious training relationship with your horse and help your horse improve their contact, asymmetry, balance, relaxation and impulsion using effective and respectful techniques. Kat offers lessons in groundwork, lungeing, in-hand work, riding and theory. Kat does not advocate the use of gadgets, tight nosebands, over flexion or forceful training practices. 1: Clinics with Kat
Kat is based in East Sussex but she teaches monthly clinics at indoor arena venues across the South East. She currently teaches in East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, London and Kent. In her clinics, Kat offers 1hour private lessons in fantastic indoor school venues. Please click here to read some of Kat’s training testimonials.
Kat offers single day or multiple day clinics. Kat currently teaches monthly clinics at the below venues but is happy to travel to other indoors venues if demand arises.
AlderLake Farm, Newick, East Sussex (£85 lesson, travel, venue hire)
Isaacs Farm, Bidborough, West Kent (£95 lesson, travel, venue hire)
Willow Farm, Faversham, East Kent (£110 lesson, travel, venue hire)
Whilst lesson costs are consistent irrespective of the clinic location, each clinic cost varies a little due to individual venue hire costs and travel distance from Kat’s base. Travel is charged at £30 per hour pro rata, the first half hour of travel is free.

A £50 deposit secures your clinic booking. Deposits can be transferrable to a future clinic if a minimum of 14-days notice is given. In the event of a short notice, lameness, or illness, the £50 deposit is used as a £50 cancellation fee, however, should you wish Kat will be available for a 15-minute telephone consultation to discuss your horses training and offer advice. For clinic participants the clinic balance is payable on the day of the clinic. If Kat has to cancel the clinic, the deposit can either be refunded or carried over to a future clinic.

2: Mini Clinics
Kat offers mini clinics at your own yard for sole client participation. The mini clinic comprises of practical and theory. These components are broken down into -
1. Two hours on site practical – Covering groundwork, lungeing, in hand and riding. These sessions are not too challenging for the horses, there are lots of breaks, the horse’s welfare is paramount.
2. Distance theory in the form of either A) participation in one monthly group zoom theory lecture or B) one question/answer telephone consultation a few weeks after the mini clinic.
Mini clinics are usually spaced at 4 or 8 week intervals. The cost is £150 plus travel. Travel is charged at £30 per hour pro rata, the first half hour of travel is free.

3: Private Lessons
Kat encourages clinic participation whenever possible, but does offer some lessons to clients at their own yards. Lessons last 50-60 minutes. Please click here to read some of Kat’s training testimonials
Zone 1 (0-12 miles TN22) Single lesson, includes travel £80, additional lessons £60
Zone 2 (13-16 miles from TN22) Single lesson, includes travel £90, additional lessons £60
Zone 3 (17-21 miles TN22) Single lesson, includes travel £100, additional lessons £60
Zone 4 (over 22 miles TN22) Mini clinics and clinics only

Clients are welcome to bring their horse for a lesson at Kat’s base. Charge £75, payable on booking, £50 cancellation fee applies.

4: ‘Lungeing for Longevity’ course
Learn how to improve your horses posture on the lunge, no gadgets!
Kat offers a course in learning how to lunge your horse correctly, with correct biomechanics at the forefront and without gadgets. Learn how to help your horse lunge in balance using only a lunge cavesson, on straight lines and curved lines focussing on improving lateral balance, longitudinal balance and relaxation. Suitable for any horse over the age of 3, also suitable for horses being rehabbed from pathology or recovering from kissing spine, including kissing spine operations.
At the end of this course, you will have learnt the basic techniques of gadget free lungeing enabling you to continue to develop your horse physically with correct biomechanics and attention to your horse’s mental health at the forefront. This is a 4 x session course. Kat will come to your yard 4 times, over a short-term period to help you learn correct, gadget free, lungeing techniques. The course costs £320 plus travel (travel charged each session). Occasionally more than 4 sessions are required, particularly for horses with rehabilitation needs. Kat will discuss this with you after the first few sessions and a tailored plan to suit your individual horses’ requirements will be put in place. If more than 4 sessions are necessary, from the 5th session, charges are based on Kat’s standard lesson rates and can be booked on an ‘as required’ basis.
The course is payable in full on booking, where mutually agreeable dates will be set for the 4 x sessions. The course is non-refundable but dates can be transferable if a minimum of 14 days’ notice is given. In the event of short notice lameness and illness there is a £50 cancellation fee (per cancelled session), however Kat will be available for a 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your horses training and offer advice. If Kat has to cancel a session, rebooking will be offered.

5: Online Zoom Theory Lectures with Kat
Kat offers zoom theory lectures to national and international clients. The lectures cover all aspects of French Classical Training and are a wealth of extra information to support your practical knowledge. They run monthly, on weeknights, last 1 to 1.5hours, are held in groups and offer a friendly and supportive learning environment. The theory lectures are booked in sets of two and cost £50. The lecture subjects and dates are given in advance of booking and as such are non-transferable and non-refundable. Minimum 4 people required for a lecture to take place. If Kat has to cancel the theory lecture, bookings will be transferable to future lectures.
Kat also offers theory lectures to single client participation. These cost £100, are payable on booking and can be booked on an ad-hoc basis.
